Love this Look: Lena Headey at An Evening with “Game of Thrones”

I was lucky enough to attend the Television Academy’s An Evening with “Game of Thrones” event last night. I’m a HUGE fan of the series so I was super stoked to be able to see/hear the cast and showrunners dish about working on the show. In addition to hearing anecdotes about receiving weird fanmail and the challenges of casting some of the series’ key roles (finding their “Arya” was particularly hard), from purely a style POV, I REALLY loved how strikingly un-Cersei-esque actress Lena Headey looked outside her Westeros garb and Lannister blonde wig, instead going super casual in a striped tank dress and coral scarf. My favorite part of her look has got to be those amazing platform booties. Obsessed.

Love this Look: Marion Cotillard in Dior Couture

I know she got ripped (pun intended) for wearing this bright yellow strapless Dior number - complete with that seemingly split-off sheer paneling - but Marion Cotillard simply stuns in this one. I love the color, the cut, the structure; bonus points for the sideswept peplum. Yes, the sheer paneling is hugely distracting but tolerable, in my humble opinion. If it were up to me, I would’ve editorialized bytailoring that part out.

YOUR thoughts?

Oscars 2013: The Favorites

Besides Anne Hathaway’s, um, bullets, there weren’t any huge fashion statements on the Oscars 2013 red carpet. I guess this means the days of Bjork’s swan dress are over. A little sad, yes, especially for those of us who can appreciate those bold enough to wear the total crazypants things that cause stylists to convulse. But that doesn’t mean the stars weren’t a treat to see. Below, a few of my favorites.

Jessica Chastain surprisingly bold (with the red lips) in a muted/beaded copper Armani Prive gown.

“Fank” you very much, Adele for dazzling on AND off the stage in this classy Jenny Packham number.

Some people weren’t into Amanda Seyfried’s beaded halter-neck Alexander McQueen, but I loved it not just for the intricate beading, but for how she dressed it up: up-do and bling, in perfect proportions.

Jane Fonda in canary yellow Versace. Is it weird that I started doing aerobics right after I saw her in this?

She’s back! Robin Roberts dazzling in blue and looking healthy and vibrant. Love.

Some people said Salma Hayek’s high-neck Alexander McQueen made her look like Paula Abdul in the early ’90s. I say, whatever.

I get very nervous whenever I see necklines this one on Les Miserables’s Samantha Barks. But looks like her fashion tape worked!

This was a little “modern bride”-ish but if there is anyone who can rock bridal white, a peplum AND a cropped, grown out GI Jane-ish boycut, it’s Charlize Theron in this Christian Dior Couture number.

I love me a good statement shoulder partly because I have shoulders that are disproportionately broad to the rest of my body and I would like nothing more than to rock giant, ’80s-worthy shoulder pads. Well, I actually have with mixed results. Halle Berry can mostly do no wrong and while I’m a little undecided on the whole stripes situation, I’m loving the cut and structure of this glittery Versace number.

Probably my favorite look of the night was Naomi Watts’s sequined Armani Prive gown with shoulder cut-out. Sure, I couldn’t help but wonder what those tan lines would look like but it was edgy, classy and red carpet appropriate all at the same time. Brava!

We are all under Jennifer Lawrence’s charm spell, which includes falling victim (literally) to the weight of a Dior Haute Couture gown that I assume weighs a gajillion pounds.
