Hipster rocking in West Hollywood. I hit up the CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy) show at the Troubadour last night and donned this Brandy Melville tank and Xhilaration (Target) striped mini-skirt (+ DV by Dolce Vita booties, not pictured) for some electroclash head-bopping. If you think you’ve never heard of CSS, you probably have: Their song “Music is My Hot Hot Sex” was featured in an Apple iPod commercial a few years ago. Check them out here.
Skull tank top, Brandy Melville. Miniskirt, Target. Pendant, flea market. Lipstick, MAC Limited Edition in Hibiscus.
LNOA for a birthday bash thrown last weekend at a Hollywood watering hole, where the really nice Eastern bloc ladies who run the place provide patrons with free hotdogs, microwave popcorn and Keebler cookies. My favorite part about this look is that it’s decidedly budget-friendly: both the tee and booties are from Marshall’s, and I found the skirt at Target. I own 2 other high-waisted miniskirts like the one pictured here and love pairing them with tees and casual shoes (TOMS, flats, low-top sneakers, booties; rarely heels) for a lowkey look, save for some neon pink lips. I’m getting some major mileage out of that NARS Schiap lipstick!
Tee, Peace Generation. Skirt, Xhilaration. Shoes, DV by Dolce Vita. Lipstick, Schiap by NARS.
I have these broad swimmer/surfer shoulders which make me hesitant to wear anything with shoulder embellishments for fear of being mistaken for Patrick Chung of the Patriots (yes, I named Chung because he is the first Asian in the NFL who comes to mind). Still, when I found this Elizabeth & James frock, I couldn’t resist: I’m a sucker for well-placed grommets on a sleek sheath. So much of a sucker, in fact, I got the dress in black as well. I wore the pale pink/nude version to a meeting recently and paired it with black and gold spiked DV by Dolce Vita booties (not shown).
I got a few compliments on it so I think my football shoulders concern was all for not; or maybe everyone was just too polite to say what they really thought so they erred on the side of positive and told me it looked awesome. Toss-up!
Studded shoulder dress, Elizabeth & James.
Not me, wearing the same dress.
